The sustainability ambition
The plan incorporates the following components:
- Maximum use is made of solar panels.
- Cogeneration units provide efficient use of energy and heat.
- The use of public transport is encouraged by the location near NS station Veenendaal De Klomp.
- Cycling from the region is possible due to its direct location on the Ede-Veenendaal bicycle highway.
- For motorists, the Science Park is easily and quickly accessible from the highway.
- Within 5 years, the vehicle fleet will consist mostly of electric cars, which can be charged via a private facility.
Green buffer as transition
It is important to us that the Science Park in the De Klomp business park be given a green look, so that it forms a nice transition between the residential area (with the residential care facility, residential homes, hotel) on the west and the business park where heavy industry (category up to 4.2 such as slaughterhouses, fish processing, wood preservation, tire factory, forges) is allowed on the east side. We want to realize this by creating the Science Park as a green buffer between the ribbon development along Veenendaalseweg and the heavy industry at exit 23a Veenendaal. The Science Park’s outdoor area is reminiscent of a park with walking paths and water features.
